Sometimes players are faced with the fact that textures are not loaded into Fortnite. At best, this bug spoils the aesthetic pleasure of the process; at worst, it makes the game impossible. The gamer does not understand where his character is moving and quickly loses. There are several ways to deal with texture problems.
Why textures are not loading in Fortnite
The most common reasons why textures may not load in the game:
- non-updated or out-of-date drivers;
- insufficiently powerful PC assembly;
- viruses;
- use of third-party software;
- incorrect settings;
- malfunctions of the video card.
Determining the cause depends on the “symptoms” of the glitches. Check if objects are loading in other games. If the problem occurs even in simple arcades, it is recommended to check the video card.
At the beginning of the game
Texture problems early in the match can be a conditional norm. The gradual loading of resources helps to avoid clogging up the RAM. The game does not use those files that it does not need now. After the start of the match, the application has to quickly download the necessary data.
Normally, this procedure should be invisible to the human eye. Loading takes a split second. But in the case of a weak PC build or epic graphics settings, there is a sharp increase in the amount of memory used. The load on the video card and processor increases. As a result, the computer adjusts too slowly, the player has time to notice “soapy” textures or their absence. The image quality is further improved.
If objects do not load even after starting the game, other reasons should be considered.
The problem can be caused by not updated libraries and drivers, out of order graphics settings, etc.
In time of stream
Slow loading of textures only during a stream is associated with an increased load on the computer. The device has to not only process, but also broadcast information. A large amount of it overloads the RAM, processor and video card, which causes lags, FPS drawdowns and problems with textures. The device has to save money and set priorities on its own, so some tasks are performed more slowly.
How to solve a problem
If you are having problems with textures, do the following:
- Reinstall the game. This will help in the event that the texture files were damaged. Sometimes it is possible to get rid of bugs related to settings. If you need a less drastic solution, check the integrity of the files. To do this, open the launcher, select the library with games and go to the Fortnite tab. In the settings, click the “Check” button.
- Change the settings inside the game to the minimum. This will reduce the load on components and speed up the computer. If the settings are already low, and the FPS is within the normal range, then, on the contrary, improve the graphics. The parameters may have automatically changed to the minimum. This can cause the appearance of unusual “soapy” textures for the player.
- Update drivers and libraries. The latest DX and .NET Framework libraries are available on the official developer sites. Drivers can be updated using the control panel, but it is recommended to install an application from the video card manufacturer. It will automatically download new versions.
- Turn off additional programs. Even a browser dramatically increases the load on components, especially if it has many tabs open. Temporarily disable automatic updates in those programs that you cannot close: antiviruses, software from developers, etc.
- Check your computer. Viruses are often the cause of texture problems. You should suspect malware if your computer also slows down, including at rest, and overheats. If the textures do not look right or look like third-party images, your PC is infected. It is advisable to use not only antivirus, but also anti-spyware applications, since the former do not always find malware.
- Check your graphics card. If, instead of textures, artifacts in the form of glitches and stripes appear, there is a possibility of component breakage. If you have 2 PCs, replace the video cards and check the result. If a similar problem appears on another computer, replace or take the components to a service center.
If none of the above methods helped, and problems are observed in several games at once, you will have to go to radical methods – upgrading your PC or reinstalling the OS.
