The number of battle royale games is constantly growing, each of them is trying to challenge 2 giants of the game industry.

Fortnite genre and goals
Initially, Fortnite was positioned as a cooperative survival simulator in an open world with elements of an active shooter. But the game has become a real cultural phenomenon thanks to the shareware battle royale mode.

List of games similar to Fortnite
Battle royale games peaked in 2018, when Fortnight and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds became direct competitors. Now on the market you can find many copies of games of this genre for computers, browsers and smartphones. Some of them were able to find their audience and become popular.

Blackout
Blackout is a Battle Royale mode in CoD: Black Ops 4.
Only 1 map is available for gamers (but collected from the multiplayer arenas of the previous parts), but it is interesting and pleasant to play, because:
- CoD has never had a problem with shooter mechanics;
- familiar characters have been moved to Blackout;
- there is PvE (zombies roam the map) – a novelty for battle royale.
Rules of Survival
When Fortnite and PUBG became available on mobile, smartphone users were already playing Rules of Survival.
The game works without lags and crashes even on gadgets of average performance.

Z1 Battle Royale H1Z1
At first, H1Z1: King of the Kill was a survival shooter against zombies, but later the developers added Z1 Battle Royale. This is a Battle Royale on vehicles. Matches are faster and more chaotic than Fortnite.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was the main game in the genre before the advent of Fortnight. The gameplay is standard for battle royale: hundreds of players start with nothing, trying to get weapons and supplies in order to compete for the first place. But PUBG is more realistic than Fortnite.
Call of Duty: Warzone
A Fortnite-style battle royale from PUBG Corporation powered by the Modern Warfare engine. It can even be played from the Modern Warfare client. Benefits of Call of Duty: Warzone – a special mode for inexperienced players, cross-platform.
Maelstrom
Maelstrom is the epitome of the battle royale concept at sea. 15 ships are fighting to remain the last ship afloat. The action takes place in a fantasy world, where not only rivals can send to the bottom, but also any huge sea creature or whirlpool.
State of Decay dilogy
The player will have to plunge headlong into the open world of the zombie apocalypse and organize the rescue of people. The idea is different from Fortnite, but the games are similar in mechanics and graphics.
Dying Light: Bad Blood
Bad Blood is an official Fortnite add-on to Dying Light. Players will have to fight each other for the special blood of the infected – a pass to the rescue plane. In terms of gameplay, it is still Dying Light with parkour and zombies actively intervening in the players’ showdown.
Mordhau
The developers added classic battles in the style of the Royal Battle as a separate mode to the multiplayer slasher Mordhau. The game is suitable for those who like medieval themes.
Ring of Elysium
An analogue of PUBG with excellent optimization, which is suitable for weak PCs. The peculiarity of Ring of Elysium is that natural phenomena periodically occur on the map – destructive hurricanes and blizzards are raging, torrential rains are falling that obscure the view.
The Culling Origins
The Culling Origins servers were shut down by the developers back in 2017. However, in May 2020, Xaviant announced that the game was returning to Xbox One. The graphics have improved, but The Culling Origins is no longer shareware.
